Knife (John Deere® head knife for 3960, 3970, 3975 series)

The K61961 knife will fit a John Deere® 3960 - 3970 and 3975 pull-type harvester. Knives are bolted to the cutter drum with three bolts. In conjunction with a shear bar these knives cut the forage being harvested There are 48 knives required per drum. 

Maintenance: 

• Sharpen knives at least once a day to maintain a sharp edge for easy cutting.
• Replace knives when all tungsten underneath the knives is exhausted or when there are major chips in the knives from rocks.

Each knife is heat-treated and tungsten hard-faced. The cutting edge is ground in for consistent hardness out to the tip of the knife. Install to factory settings, torque bolts to 110 ft. lbs. Do not install with an impact wrench. Visually inspect for wear, and replace as needed.
