Service Update for Dual & Single Roll Adapter for John Deere® 8000 and 9000 Series

Adapter Grease Blog Graphic

Attention all those who own an 8000 or 9000 series John Deere® and you have a single or a dual roll adapter. We want to bring to your attention to the fact that we have been seeing some excessive pressure on the main shaft. What we're finding is after the second or third year of running, the male and female shaft run dry. This is because as they are sliding against each other, they are slowly drying out the grease that allows them to slide easily.

To combat this issue, when you pull your adapter out of the shop make sure you grease all the adapters. Especially the male and female shaft. In the future you should be greasing this at the start of the season. You can use either grease or oil, but make sure it slides freely all the way in and all the way out.

What you will see if you are not greasing these adapters is when you pick the headers up off the ground the shaft doesn't bottom out. It will compress tightly causing pressure on the main shaft.
